Satellite positioning systems have dramatically changed the methods by which the land surveyor carries out
field operations. GPS-based equipment has rapidly become the world’s most widely used survey tool.
As a pioneer of satellite-based positioning systems, Fugro Chance Inc. (Chance) of Lafayette, Louisiana introduced the world’s
first precision satellite positioning system in 1986 dubbed STARFIX ®.

GPS services provided by the Chance Land Group include consulting, mission planning, network design, field reconnaissance and data acquisition, data post-processing and network adjustments.
GPS survey reports provide the client with detailed adjustment information related to the project, as well as photographs, location maps and "to reach" monument descriptions. Ultimately, the final horizontal and/or vertical positions are converted to the client’s requested datums.
Clients include oil companies and oil service companies, government organizations, planners, utility companies, photogrammetrists, contractors and civil engineers and decision makers regarding the use of land and/or natural resources.
