Florida Power & Light

In 2001, Fugro EarthData worked with Florida Power & Light (FPL) to develop GIS applications for its ticket-locator, franchise-boundary, work-management, and support- and maintenance-management systems. Incorporated into FPL's enterprise GIS, the applications: (1) enhance the ability to identify, locate, and dispatch crews to routine and emergency power outages; (2) enable continuous update of municipal boundaries; (3) automatically integrate neighboring parcels into a city, even annexing parcels across streets; (4) return spatial coordinates, the billing district code, and the city code for any point specified by its address or by its electric device identifier to provide information to repair crews in the field.
