Duties:
Responsible for multibeam swath bathymetry, side scan sonar, and single beam bathymetry
data processing and interpretation. Provides scientific and operations advice in the use
of multibeam echosounder systems. Assists Project Managers to ensure project requirements
for data and deliverables are met. Interfaces with client to explain uses and advantages of sonar
technology in certain applications.
- Meets with Project Managers and clients to identify and develop sonar applications. Trains
employees on equipment use and interpretation.
- Performs and/or checks calculations prior to field work assignment; review field collected data for processing.
- Researches records to compile and report on previous projects of interest in accomplishing current project.
- Produces digital and hard copy files for delivery to client and other required deliverables; ensures
deliverables are reviewed and quality checked.
- Assists in creating CAD standards for the data management section or specific to the project requirements.
- Assists in data management function and the maintenance of the Land GIS database.
- Submits and/or responds to submitted quality reports as per standards.
- Assists in other department projects as assigned.
- Occasional field assignments may be necessary.
Requirements:
Associate’s degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college and 5 years related experience including multibeam
echosounder operations, interpretation and processing, and or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret job related technical documents; ability to write routine reports and
correspondence; ability to perform intermediate business and surveying application math; ability to apply
common sense understanding to carry out instructions; ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computer including office administration applications and computer aided
drafting system.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to work in field as needed.
